ㆍATB-L is a 7-speed sealed gearbox developed with the goal of making gearbox technology accessible to a broader audience.
ㆍConventional derailleur systems rely on externally exposed components, which inherently suffer from chain drop, contamination, frequent maintenance, and reduced
durability.
ATB-L addresses these limitations at a fundamental level by adopting a fully sealed gearbox architecture
ㆍATB-L employs a fixed-input 1×7 architecture.
The input gear between the pedal shaft and the main shaft is configured with a 45:25 ratio, increasing rotational speed while reducing transmitted torque.
ㆍThis input structure provides several tangible advantages.
ㆍFaster gear engagement :
The increased rotational speed accelerates the engagement between the pawls and the internal gear teeth, significantly reducing pedal free-play and engagement delay.
ㆍImproved shifting durability :
By lowering the torque transmitted to the main shaft and shifting components, long-term durability is naturally improved.
ㆍRational gear material selection :
The reduced torque load enables the use of low-cost gears produced through powder metallurgy.
Although powder-metal gears exhibit approximately 30 percent lower durability than heat-treated alloy gears, the ATB-L architecture ensures sufficient and reliable
durability within its operating conditions.
ㆍSimplified architecture :
By eliminating unnecessary components and overly complex mechanisms, failure points are minimized.
This results in excellent mass-production efficiency and significantly improved serviceability, a known weakness of traditional gear hub systems.
ㆍLow maintenance burden :
With no externally exposed drivetrain components, ATB-L is highly resistant to rain, dust, and snow.
In addition to its very low failure rate, the low cost of individual components further reduces overall maintenance expenses.
ㆍOptimized belt efficiency :
Power is transmitted at higher rotational speed and lower torque, reducing belt load and effectively extending belt service life.
ㆍATB-L does not rely on expensive materials or excessive specifications :
By Instead, it prioritizes a balance between cost competitiveness and performance through a proven mechanical structure and efficient gear design.
ㆍSeven-speed gearing optimized for urban riding
ㆍA sufficient gear range combined with smooth and predictable shifting feel
ㆍMold-based components and a simple modular assembly structure.
ㆍA design optimized for mass production, enabling a highly competitive supply price.
ㆍATB-L is optimized for hub-motor-based e-bikes and is designed as a practical gearbox solution for daily commuting riders who want to minimize maintenance effort.
ㆍATB-L is not a simplified version of a high-end gearbox :
It is the minimal and optimal form required to make gearboxes part of everyday cycling, and it represents the starting point of ALL-TO’s mass-adoption strategy.
